Nutritional based Additional Tips :Ramadan Dessert recipes for Iftar
1. Choosing Vermicelli: Opt for thin, long, and fine whole wheat vermicelli for the best texture. Since they come in long strands, break them into smaller pieces before roasting.
2. Customizing Nuts & Dry Fruits: If you have nut allergies, feel free to skip them altogether. Alternatively, you can add your favourite nuts and dried fruits to suit your taste preferences.
3.Selecting Dates: Use good quality dates for rich sweetness. If your dates have seeds, chop them and discard the seeds. Dry dates, also known as kharik, can also be included. Simply soak them in water until softened, chop, and remove the seeds before adding to the recipe.
4. Adding Chironji: Chironji, small brown seeds with a nutty flavour, add a delightful crunch to Sheer Khurma. However, if you don’t have them on hand, feel free to skip them. Remember to use fresh chironji seeds, as they can turn rancid quickly.
5. Incorporating Coconut: For an extra layer of flavour, consider adding about 2 tablespoons of unsweetened desiccated coconut to the recipe.
6. Enhancing Flavour with Condensed Milk or Khoya: To elevate the richness and depth of flavour, incorporate ¼ cup grated khoya (mawa) into the milk. Alternatively, if using sweetened condensed milk, adjust the sugar accordingly or omit SUGAR entirely from the recipe.
7. Experimenting with Flavourings: While the recipe includes cardamom powder, saffron, and rose water for aroma and taste, you can customize it to your liking. Omit saffron if desired or soak saffron strands in warm milk for a beautiful yellow hue. Additionally, pandanus water (kewra water) can be used instead of rose water for a unique twist.
By following these additional tips, you’ll be able to create a delightful batch of Sheer Khurma that’s bursting with flavour and perfectly tailored to your preferences.
